Depression is one of the most discussed mental health difficulties in the perinatal period, yet it still comes with a great deal of stigma which can prevent people from seeking help.
Parenting is extremely hard. It’s a 24/7 job which involves sleep deprivation and less time to look after yourself. Suffering with low mood, low motivation and struggling to enjoy the things you normally would, during this already challenging time, can be immensely hard.
It can feel like every day is an uphill battle, and it may feel like you will never be able to pull yourself up. This may have an impact on your ability to be the parent you want to be, or to have the relationship you want with your baby, which can further impact your mood in a downward spiral. It is exhausting.
I have worked with countless parents suffering with depression and their perinatal mental health, and so I know it can get better. Here at GLB Psychology I have a number of approaches that can help during online therapy for depression: Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Video Interactive Guidance (VIG) to name a few.
We can work together to develop an understanding of your current difficulties and to compassionately build up your resources so you can work towards the life you want.
